How to Measure for Windows Correctly for Blinds and Shades Menu

Measuring for your new window coverings is essential to ensure a perfect fit. Let us show you just how simple this process can be, or follow the instructions below to take accurately measure your windows.

Once you input your measurements, our production department will make their own calculations for inside mounts window coverings to ensure a perfect fit. Please do not make your own deduction, since this will change the fit of your blinds or shades.

 

Inside Mount

Width

  • Measure the width from left to right of the inside edge of the window frame at the top, middle, and bottom.
  • Round measurements down to the nearest 1/8th inch.
  • Use the smallest of the three measurements for your order.

Height

  • Measure the height from top to bottom of the inside edge of the window frame in 3 places.
  • Round measurements up to the nearest 1/8th inch.
  • Use the largest of the three measurements for your order.

 

Outside Mount

Width

  • Measure the width of the window frame (or how wide you would like your blinds) from left to right.
  • Make sure your measurements cover the entire window so they will provide maximum light coverage.
  • For example, if your window is 36” wide, you may want to order a 40” window covering if you have the space.
  • Note: No deductions or additions will be made to outside mount window coverings.
 

Height

  • Measure the height of the window frame (or how long you would like your blinds) from top to bottom.
  • Make sure your measurements cover the entire window so they will provide maximum light coverage.
  • For example, if your window is 60” high, you may want to order a 64” window covering if you have the space.
  • Note: No deductions or additions will be made to outside mount window coverings.
