How to clean bamboo shades
Bamboo shades are nothing short of glamorous. They offer gorgeously intricate textures and so many different finishes and styles. But we know that these intricate designs can seem like a hassle to keep clean. All of our woven/bamboo shades can be gently dusted with either a feather duster or a dry microfibre cloth.
If you are noticing lots of dust buildup, you can also add the gentle attachment to your vacuum cleaner to get rid of it. We recommend lightly dusting your bamboo shades every week and adding a deep clean with your vacuum brush every couple of months.
Cleaning tips:
- Never apply water to bamboo shades since the materials can absorb water and are susceptible to warping and bending when moist.
- Do not use a hair dryer with heat, as the heat may cause damage to the delicate textures.
- Never apply cleaning products to your bamboo shades.
FAQs
How do I get stains out of my bamboo shades?
Wood shades should be easy to clean. Simply wipe with a dry cloth. If the stain is really stuck on, you may wipe that particular spot with a slightly damp cloth. Just be sure to fully dry the material. If necessary, apply a hair dryer on a cool setting only. Be sure to use as little water as possible. Never submerge your woven shades in water.
How do I get rid of mildew?
If you have placed your bamboo shades in a humid part of your home and are noticing mildew stains, you should wipe them with a dry microfibre cloth. If the mildew is hard to remove, you may add some vegetable oil to your cloth to gently rub the mildew away. In general, you should avoid placing woven shades in humid parts of the house.
What happens if my bamboo shades get wet?
If your shades accidentally get very wet, remove them from the bracket and lay them down flat on towel. Use another towel to gently pat them dry. Leave as little to air dry as possible. When the water dried up on its own, it is absorbed into the bamboo and warps. Take care to dry your shades gently as best as you can before hanging them back up.
