Inside mounted solar shades mount inside the window casing, and do not cover the window molding.

Outside mounted solar shades are mounted on the wall and cover the window molding.
Instructions for Inside Mounted Solar Shades
Depth Requirements
- You first have to make sure your window has enough mounting depth for an inside mount. You can find out more information under the “Product Info” tab on the solar shades product main page.
Measuring the width
- Measure the exact width (left to right) of the inside top edge of the window frame.
- Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement. This is the width you will order.
- Deductions that will be made by our factory:
Measuring the height
- Measure the exact height (top to bottom) from the top inside edge down to the window sill in three places.
- Take the largest of the three measurements.
- Write down that size making sure that it is the second number of the measurement. This is the height you will order.
- Roller shades will come with extra fabric to conceal the roller.

*Do not attempt to account for fabric deductions by changing measurements on inside mount shades.

Instructions for Outside Mounted Solar Shades
If you want the solar shade to cover the entire opening of the window and the window frame, choose an outside mount. We will make the shades to the measurements you’ve given to us, we won't make any deductions or alterations for you.
Flat surface requirements
- For an outside mount, you’ll need at least two-and-a-half inches of flat surface. Go to the “Product Info” tab on the product’s main page to find out more.
Measuring the width
- Measure the exact width (left to right) of the wooden or metal window frame or how wide you would like the blind or shade to be.
- Make sure to measure wide enough as to cover the entire window and provide maximum light gap coverage. There is no rule on the width of blinds other than to make sure that it is wide enough to cover the opening.
- Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement. This is the width you will order.
- Deductions that will be made by our factory:
