Mount Type - Inside or Outside Mount Refers to the way in which the blind will be hung, either inside or outside the window opening. Inside mount blinds are mounted inside the window frame opening that is recessed from the wall. Outside mount blinds hang outside the window opening on a wood trim, wall or door. Inside mount is by far the most popular mount and provides a nice clean look and finish to your window.

For inside mounts: please make sure to follow the Measuring Instructions on our site; do not make any deductions in your measurements, as our factory will make all necessary deductions to allow for mounting brackets.

Clear Guard
Clear Guard is a transparent shroud that covers the Continuous Cord Loop in compliance with the new Canadian regulations for improved child safety. When in the neutral position at the bottom of the chain, the Clear Guard leaves <22 cms of exposed chain at the top of the shade. To raise or lower the shade, simply raise the Clear Guard shroud and operate the exposed chain at the bottom as you would with a regular Continuous Cord Loop.

To use the Smart Blinds Hub, you must order this product with Motorization lift option. Controller range is approximately 150 feet. One (1) controller is recommended per every 2000 square feet. A remote control is required to program your blinds. Please be sure to add 1 remote per order.

2 blinds or shades mounted on the same headrail. Typically this is to cover a large window where the size is too large to allow a single shade. Each blind or shade on the headrail will have its own set of controls so one blind may be open while the other is closed. We recommend splitting very large blinds into two blinds on one headrail. If it is recommended that your blind be split you can still choose to have it manufactured as one single blind, however, it will void the manufacturer's warranty.

Standard RollpositionStandard - Roller is visible from the front of the shade. Shade comes down behind the roller. Recommended for outside mount so the shades are flush with the wall.

Reverse RollpositionReverse - Roller is hidden behind the shade. Shade comes down in front of the roller. Recommended for inside mount so the shades are flush with the outside of the window sill.

NOTE: Reverse Roll is not available if Cassette Valance is chosen.

If you choose no fabric-insert with your valance, the valance will have a PVC finish. The no-insert valance is available in 3 different colours: White, Silver, and Black.

Recommendations and Limitations

  • Sun control product. Not a privacy shade
  • Openness Factor: approx. 5%
  • Fabric colour can vary from one dye lot to another. To ensure that all materials are from the same dye lot, please order shades for the same room at the same time.
  • Extra fabric wrap around the roller tube is included in the height of your shade.
  • Waves in the fabric may occur on large windows.
  • Exposed roll shades come with universal brackets and can be mounted inside, outside, or ceiling mount.
  • Chain Lift Roller diameter: Up to 85 1/8" width = 1 1/4", 84 1/8" to 121 1/8" = 1 1/2", over 121 1/4" = 1 3/4"
  • Some lift systems require more room on the roller to operate, resulting in a slightly larger light gap on one side. Do not attempt to account for fabric deductions by changing measurements on shades.
    • Open roll light gap with Clear Guard or Motorized: Drive side: ¾”; Opposite side: 1/2"
    • Open roll light gap with Cordless: ½” each side

These shades provide enough coverage while allowing the view to be visible. They were easy to install. My only complaint is with the cord loop for raising and lowering. It is very short and has a clear tube sleeve which tames the cords, but is a hindrance when operating. The shade can only be raised and lowered in short increments as a result. Maybe I was not seeing something. I tried removing the sleeve covering, but it is very hard plastic and does not appear to come off. Otherwise, the shades are fine. We hope they will be beneficial in keeping out the heat and sun

Missing parts, delivered wrong sizes

We had select blinds professionals come over to measure our blinds, they delivered the blinds the wrong size with missing parts, we had to return/donate them. Then they re shipped more blinds, which were also the wrong size and the installer came over and we wasted more time meeting the installer for wrong size blinds. This is now going on 2.5 months without blinds installed. It’s been a nightmare

Overall good quality and prices. Only minor complaint is larger span blinds are stiff and difficult for small or old hands to operate. Would recommend splitting larger blinds into two if possible.
