There are some really interesting ways to customize your new horizontal wood blinds. For a touch of elegance, try adding a crown valance. Most of our 2" horizontal blinds come with a 3" valance, and our 2 ½” Designer Wood Blinds include a 5" crown valance.
Our wood blinds use the same ladder system – the thin cords that run up the length of the blind to raise and lower it – as the faux wood blinds. Depending on the width of the blind, there are normally two or three "ladders". For a streamlined look, we offer the “no holes privacy” option for the wood blinds. For a very small upgrade fee, we will make your wood blinds with hidden ladders. With this method, the ladders will be attached behind the slats, rather than drilled with tiny holes in the slats to thread the cord. This offers two distinct benefits. First, the slats have a completely solid surface, allowing no light to filter through the tiny holes. Secondly, the overall look is cleaner and more sophisticated with the solid slats. Another way to accomplish the same benefit of no light filtering through is to add cloth tapes to your custom blinds. The wood blinds are manufactured the standard way, with the small holes drilled for the ladders, but the cloth tapes cover the ladders (and the holes), thus providing the same level of light blocking and privacy as the no holes option. The cloth tapes provide a very rich and warm feel and are a great way to further coordinate the colour scheme in your room. For windows that are high up or otherwise awkward to reach, we offer a motorized tilt option. With a battery powered remote, you can tilt the slats open and closed.
