Vertical blinds are the most popular treatment choice for sliding glass doors. Since they are really the only window blind that can be opened and closed horizontally (like a sliding door), this should be no surprise. SelectBlindsCanada.ca has put together a selection of vertical blinds that should satisfy your decorating needs. Whether you have just a single door to cover for privacy, or you are planning to decorate an entire room with new window blinds, if you understand a few of the basics you will have a much more enjoyable shopping experience. While your vertical blinds can match the colour and style of the other window blinds in a room, it is not necessary to do so. Decorators will very often use the vertical blinds as a way to offer a contrast in colour and/or texture to the other window treatments in the room. For instance, our 3 ½” Premium Plus Fabric Vertical Blinds are a wonderful complement to honeycomb shades. It all depends on your personal taste. When you are shopping for an entire room or large open plan area, and you want the vertical blinds to match your horizontal blinds, we have several options for you to consider. You might select our Designer Faux Wood Vertical Blinds which are high quality wood composite material offered in a smooth looking finish. The Designer Faux Wood Vertical Blinds are available in deep and rich looking stains as well as a range of whites, and they match our 2” Designer Ultra Wood Blinds. Another consideration is the size of your door. Our vertical blinds are all available in sizes to fit the most common sized sliding doors. For a very wide door, look at the Premium Smooth Verticals, the Premium Textured Verticals, the Designer Faux Wood Verticals, and the Premium Plus Fabric Verticals, all of which can be ordered in widths up to 191". A practical feature of the vertical door blinds is that they can be tilted open just like a horizontal blind. To let light in or out, simply turn the tilt rod, the vanes, or slats, open or close. In addition, they actually provide more options than a horizontal blind, such as having the ability to stack in various ways. One method is the standard left or right stack, which means that the slats, or vanes, all draw open to the left side or the right side when you open your vertical door blind. There are also other very cool and useful ways to stack the blinds, including the center stack, which pulls the blinds in form the outer ends of the door blind, stacking the slats in the center of the door or window. There is also the opposite stack, which does just the reverse – it opens the vertical door blinds from the center, stacking an even number of slats to both sides.
