Blackout & Room Darkening Blinds and Shades |
Blackout Blinds and Shades are the best application for rooms where you require as much darkness as possible, such as bedrooms, baby nurseries, computer rooms, media rooms, TV rooms and family rooms with high sun exposure.
- Bedrooms - Studies show that you will sleep better in a completely dark room. This is very important if you work night shifts and need to sleep during the day, or if you have trouble falling asleep.
- Baby nurseries – Babies and toddlers will have more restful naps if the nursery is completely dark.
- Computer/TV/Media rooms – Window glare on computer and TV screens reduces the picture quality and can increase eye strain.
There are many different formats of Blackout Blinds and Shades. While all of our blackout and room darkening blinds and shades block most light, some are more effective than others. It is also important to keep in mind that when choosing a blackout blind or shade, you should opt for an outside mount, as light can seep out from the sides of the blind or shade when installed with an inside mount. You should add at least three inches to the width to block light gaps and choose a valance or cassette to contain light leaking through from above. The blind or shade should also extend at least an inch and a half below the bottom moulding or sit squarely on the sill.
